Just come back from the theatre after watching Lady Macbeths innerer Zirkus (Lady Macbeth's Inner Turmoil), a fifty minute, one act, one woman play in lieu of International Women's Day, woo! Basically it's all the events leading up to King Duncan's death and the tragic events that follow, but told from Lady Macbeth's perspective. The actress Susanne Plassmann was brilliant and so unbelievably beautiful. She conveyed all the hysteria, madness, guilt and pity so well *swoons*. I loved her costume, a long red corset ball gown, which she lifted up to show the concealed breeches underneath every time she swapped to play Macbeth himself. The music, minimalistic set and the TV (yes, it was there, I'm not going mad) were amazing. I especially loved the video murder sequence where the song Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) comes on the TV with the words changed to, "We shot King Duncan Down" and Lady Macbeth/Macbeth reappears from behind the curtain with blood-red gloves. There was also a part where she (as Macbeth) goes to see the witches for the three apparitions. It's basically a rock/rave sequence with strobe lighting and "Double Double..." screamed in the background, and her dancing and rocking along on a table. Odd, but very good. Simple, but such amazing acting! Great play!
In other news, I have a new house in Cardiff. I haven't actually seen it yet but Nicole assures me it's very nice. Sarah, my other housemate who I have yet to meet, was apparently much pickier than Nicole and she liked it too so there you go. I'm going to check it out and sign the contract when I'm there (19 days to go). The letting agency is Pinnacle so I'm a bit wary, especially since the stupid agency fee is 70 quid, argh! But the actual landlord only has this one house, which means we'll be his only tenants. Hope everything goes well *fingers crossed*
