Drabble: Universe

Dec 02, 2012 17:54

Prompt (from sim_spiration):
Quotes: "I hate to break it to you, but there is no big lie, there is no system. The universe is indifferent." (Mad Men)
(Note: This is another loose interpretation. I'm thinking instead of writing these disclaimers on all of them you should just know that if I continue using quotes and music lyrics as prompts they will continue to be loosely interpreted.)

Skip had a lot of time to think while drowning.

Could he have lived if he'd done things differently? His choices had been either become a criminal, or end up homeless. And he had a family to think about, so there had never really been a choice at all. Drowning was his destiny.

The police knew about Skip's criminal history and would try to use his murder to unearth a trail of lies and conspiracies leading them to the Bluewater Smugglers. To them that was solving Skip's murder. But Skip knew the truth; he'd died simply because he couldn't live.
