Pluto (aka
Yuggoth) demoted to "dwarf planet" status,
Mi-go ambassador pleased
In a bizarre turn of events the 'former' planet Pluto has lost its planetary status and been reclassified by the
International Astronomical Union (IAU) as a "dwarf planet". The new definition is uncharacteristically vague, however, and requires under the new guidelines that a planet must "clear the neighbourhood around its orbit." Despite the fact that this would then cause most other planets, such as Earth and Jupiter to no longer qualify as planets either (due to the thousands of asteroids that exist within their orbits,) the IAU insisted that it was in the best interest of humanity to completely forget about Pluto and its strange fungoid denizens.
The current IAU President, Ronald D. Ekers, conducted a small press interview from an almost completely darkened room in the house of one
Henry Akeley, situated deep in the wooded hills of Vermont.
"We feel that Yuggoth, er, I mean Pluto, and any strange, fungoid crustaceans that may inhabit its depths should best be forgotten, and that any anomalies that may be picked up by the
New Horizons mission are best to be ignored." The press conference was ended abruptly when Ekers's face slipped off its actuator, revealing a Mi-go worker operating the controls.
Investigations continue into the alleged 'donation' of several metric tons of rare earth metals to the members of the IAU. Their (rapidly disappearing) critics maintain that the metals, which are worth a veritable fortune, acted as a bribe for purposes unknown and were donated by some unseen agency.
