SEI+SIENNA; LIKE ROACHES YOU WILL NEVER BE FREE OF THEM

Sei
Sienna

Sei refused to use a cane for the most part. Just a matter of pride, he supposed. Pulling through Glast Heim proper, a small grocery bag of hemp slung about his fingers, he though it might be useful when his knee started to whine like this...

Sienna was on her way to the market place, the faintest signs of a frown on her face. It just wasn't shaping up to be a good day--she must have woken up "on the wrong side of the bed," or maybe she was PMSing. In either case, it seemed to be the day that everything chose to go wrong and so she figured a walk would help her out. And since she was going out, she might as well get food, right? (She still wasn't a very good cook...)

Sei paused, leaned against a nearby stand. This was ridiculous! Where were the days when he'd run through here? Oh, stuff it, Sei, now was not the time. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and pushed from the wall. Only to -

Ah.

She could still make his heart stop.

That's really how he knew it was her... When had it gone from her being just the friend he smiled at to the heart stopper? If he thought too hard about it his head might explode.

Instead, he managed a weak, "Sienna?"

She froze immediately.

No, that was her imagination. Had to be...

Almost against her will, Sienna slowly turned her head towards the direction her name had come from.

Oh, blue--

... Now he limped towards her, and couldn't help it, a small smile spread on his lips. She'd turned, and recognized him, and well - ah, what was he thinking, he stopped in his hurry where he was. What was he thinking?

She'd gone to Sepia, and he'd killed Marcine.

What good was any of this? "Afternoon. Nice out, mm?"

His smile was returned with a stare of disbelief bordering on the edges of angry fear. This wasn't supposed to be happening! Why the hell was he talking to her?

Her eyes narrowed into a dull sort of glare. "What do you want."

The smile melted into a cold wash. "Saying hello. Isn't that polite? Won't you say hello back?"

Her heart was racing, hands starting to shake. He wasn't supposed to be here! Not while she was here! She'd thought after the year or so she'd lived here that it was safe--she'd never seen an ounce of him once. He had so many scars. Why was he here?! "Hello. Good-bye."

"Oh!" He smiled wanely. "I see! I should be with she who would have me, right?" And now he came to her, took her wrist. "That's it, right?"

It took all of her willpower not to bolt from the touch. Instead, she yanked her wrist away and continued walking.

"Ah, ah, wait! You're too busy, right? Too busy shaking up with the bitch who kicked the shit out of me, right? Right?" What was he SAYING?

Why did he just keep TALKING?

Fuck, Sei, SHUT UP... but no, he... he was so tired...

and almost all of it was because of her!

"Too busy to say anything to me! Too busy!"

"Shut up!" snarled Sienna, whirling on him. "Don't you dare. Don't you dare."

"What? I'm just telling you the truth, Sienna, don't like it?" A few steps foward now. "Marcine took my leg. She took my eye. But I don't know, Sienna, Sepia took my mind and I don't think you really got that."

"Your mind was already gone if you used her to replace me," was out of her mouth before she knew what she was saying.

He tipped his chin back. "Take who would have you, right? That's what's best for me. You're too good, anyway, so how could she have ever been a replacement?" He clucked his tongue. "Obviously, the princess Sienna, is above those who would die for her."

She slapped him.

And breathing heavily, she hissed, "Don't ever talk to me again." Then she turned sharply and walked back home, uncomfortably aware of the attention they'd garnered.

Stupid boy! Stupid stupid stupid boy! Sienna wanted to claw off the wrist he'd touched at the same time she wanted to hold it close to her. Jerk! She wiped the tears forming in her eyes furiously.

This day could not have gotten worse.

...Hello. "Goodbye." Even if men were men -- He pressed a hand to his forehead. She needed to hear those things. He'd figure out a way to make it up to her...

Somehow...

She was in Glast Heim.

Though he'd known this fact, he'd somehow... managed never to see her... but she was here, and she was... ah, beautiful, and he was here, and maybe...

No.

Maybe never.

Certainly never.

He grabbed his food, ducked his head, and hoped that no one recognized him - blue hair and all.
