Listen to the lyrics. They are deep, and they are undoubtedly sad to an extent. No doubt, Alexandra Burke has a powerful voice, but I think she killed the entire song by overpowering it. The song was never meant to be a power-ballad, which is exactly what it was turned into. Her version has come out sounding to me as something closer to a belted out song of praise by a God-loving choir. And before anyone hits me, this song, despite its lyrics, is not about God. Well, not entirely anyways... It's metaphoring situations told in the Bible, which makes the song all the more brilliant because you have to use your brain. My favourite rendition of this song is by the late Jeff Buckley, and is the epitome of what I think this song should be.

All the above being said, I also HATE with a loathing feeling nearly all Rap and most R&B. I hate it even worse when either is performed by Chinese artists (yes I know I'm ethnically mostly Chinese, STFU) in Mandarin or Cantonese with the increasing popularity of these two genres in China and Hong Kong.
