so I was reviewing my college transcript today, and guess what????
I'm only 7 classes away from graduating! (one of which i might be able to test out of!)
that's if I drop my minor, of course. and to be honest- ack. i'm really not having as much fun as i used to studying french. but a minor could be important down the road in applying for law school.
if i keep my french minor, I'll have 6 extra classes to take. meaning 2 extra quarters (and not graduating till at least march, 2009)...
but then there's more time to study for the LSAT (law school entrance exam), and a better chance of improving my GPA before I graduate (also important for getting into law school). i don't know.
pros of staying in college/finishing my major AND minor:
- more time to study and take LSAT
- more time to improve my GPA (both good for law school apps, and which I'm pretty sure could use some improvement from a 3.0 to something better)
- completing my minor
- i get to keep my travel benefits from my mom (they disappear once i get married, turn 25 or am not enrolled in college anymore, whatever comes first).
- staying in one place for a year, meaning i could get a stable job and save some money (and be able to go the gym regularly)
- maybe being able to live with my BFF since she'll be in sacramento for this time too! (that's a biggg one)
cons of staying in college/finishing my major AND minor:
- not graduating till 2009 (ie another year of college)
- missing the chance to spend ski season 2008 in (potentially) montreal or aspen and starting to save money for law school.
- having to decide whether or not to wait around from March 2009 to winter 2009 in order to get into the ski business, or just to apply to law school straight off and forget skiing altogether.
honestly, I think there are more advantages to staying in college. more persuasive ones, at least. what do you all think?
ps. if i wasn't doing this internship with the Democratic party this fall, I could graduate on time, in June 2008. oh choices. that's not really a choice though- that's something i'm not giving up for any reason, even if it does mean an extra two quarters at Davis.
pps. if i'm able to test out of the last english class i'm required to take, i would be able to graduate in 2008 still, only in December instead of June. so that wouldn't be so bad on that point.
ppps. the bone of the day is the capitate bone, located in your wrists!
pppps. yeah, this is getting a little ridiculous, but when i was looking around on the UCD registrar's website, I ran across the History minor page- I could do a History minor that would take me less time than a French minor and it would be with a pre-law thematic emphasis! since I haven't even started my French minor yet, this could be a good option (and duh great for law school apps).
