convention update

About:

Why would a sci-fi convention ever be in the middle of nowhere? Because fans are everywhere, not just in big cities with huge convention centers. Middle Fan Con embraces the idea that a smaller venue can be host to media guests.

We are running a non-profit event with strictly volunteer staff in the hope that we can make it as affordable as possible to see two really interesting woman in a different kind of convention. Only two hundred and fifty people can attend this event and we hope that cuts down lines and chaos.

There are some really great conventions out there with tons of fan involvement in big cities that have been around for decades. Inspired by that, we intend to create a small convention that travels to smaller cities and brings in interesting guests without becoming insane with special passes and priority seating. We hope you will join us for this adventure.

Guests:

(confirmed) Torri Higginson is a Sagittarius, loves dogs, can still do the splits and a fantastic dolphin impression. She was born in Burlington, Ontario, has citizenship of three countries and attended the Royal Guildhall in England.

She has climbed Mount Sinai in Egypt, dissected corpses on NCIS and has size 9 shoes.

She is most famous for playing Dr. Elizabeth Weir on Stargate: Atlantis from 2004-2006. The solitaire-addicted diplomat was a civilian leader in a military world with a monochromatic wardrobe before she met her unfortunate (mysterious) end. Last seen wearing black leather, a frequent sign of evil intent, Dr. Weir is definitely missed.

(in neogtiation) Mary McDonnell is a Taurus, in her career she has been accused of a lack of commitment to sparkle motion, been shot down by aliens and has a thing for tall, quiet, military types. Born in Pennsylvania, she attended Fredonia State University and has two children.

She has been nominated for two Academy Awards for her work in "Dances With Wolves" and "Passion Fish" and still teaches acting classes with her husband.

She is most famous is the sci-fi world for portraying President Laura Roslin, schoolteacher turned president on Battlestar Galactica. President Roslin's adventures have spanned airlocks, genocide, occupations by mysterious robots and religious and moral debates.
