MEDIA NEWS:

From Variety: Why Hugo Weaving Doesn’t Want to Return to ‘Lord of the Rings’
Hugo Weaving isn’t returning to Middle-earth any time soon - or probably ever.
“No way. Absolutely no,” Weaving tells Variety in a recent phone interview about whether or not he would don the elf ears as Elrond again, considering the upcoming “Lord of the Rings” Amazon series. Weaving starred as the half-elven leader in both the “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” trilogies, which collectively grossed almost $6 billion worldwide and is currently being adapted into a show for the streaming platform (it’s set before “The Fellowship of the Ring,” so perhaps a younger version of Elrond could appear). The nine fingers of Sauron.
Lots of talk around here concerning Sauron and his dominion over his pet Nazgûl - and this got me wondering how he physically maintained his possession over the nine rings.

He still had enough fingers to manage all that bling... any chance he kept them in his possession by decking himself out big-pimpin’-style?

Why wouldn’t the Lord of the Rings wear all of them at once?

New Site Logo Design Contest
I have, at this point, built most of the new site and will begin working on the appearance of the site soon. Along with this, the other mods and I would like to have a new logo for the site and the SWG's social media going forward, so we'll be holding a logo contest to choose our new logo!

The way it will work: The mod team will get the first look at any logos submitted to make sure that they fit the needs of our site and reflect the culture and values of our group. SWG members can then vote for the design they like best! Artists will not be identified during the voting process. [ Guidelines]
RESEARCH AIDS:. From Middle-earth and J.R.R. Tolkien Blog:
Why Did Frodo Wait 17 Years to Leave the Shire?
This is one of those questions that arises from the conflict between the Peter Jackson movies and J.R.R. Tolkien’s book. It has been asked both ways: “What happened to the seventeen year gap between the Farewell Party and Frodo’s departure from the Shire (in the movie)?”

How did we lose seventeen years? In other words, why did Peter Jackson not tell the same story as J.R.R. Tolkien? I don’t know. We might as well ask why Rhett and Scarlett only had one child in the film version of “Gone with the Wind”. But we should try to clear up a misperception as best we can.
TRIVIA: Friday's BOOK question: When Gandalf first went into Moria, who was he looking for?
Answer: Thráin.

No one gave it a go this time.

Today's MOVIE question contributed by special_majick: What time of day is it when Frodo first hears a Ringwraith cry since leaving Rivendell?
