From The Bookseller: Andy Serkis records audiobook of The Hobbit for HarperCollins
HarperCollins is releasing an unabridged audiobook of J R R Tolkien's The Hobbit, read by Andy Serkis who starred as Gollum in the blockbuster movies.
Released in September, the audiobook comes after Serkis embarked on Hobbitathon, a live, cover-to-cover reading of the classic book, in an 11-hour sitting to raise money for Covid-19 relief efforts. More than 650,000 fans tuned in, helping to raise over £300,000. [Read more]

Why is Elrond not High King of the Noldor after Gil-galad?
I am sure this has been asked before, but I have been wondering this myself lately. It seems to be suggested that he did not claim the title because there were few Noldor left in Middle Earth, but surely there were enough? Just how many died from the First to Second Age?

Did the Star of the Dúnedain Confer a Special Social Status on Sam?
The Star of the Dúnedain has long been a subject for speculation, and my own speculation (as summarized in that article) is that it did confer some special authority upon the Mayor of the Shire. But a reader asks if Sam’s social status outside the Shire was in some way elevated by Aragorn’s gift.
