In the Hospital [open]

Angie's just dozing, really, as well as a person can doze with an IV in one arm. No one ever sleeps well in the hospital, really. She's been on treatment for a couple of days and is feeling a little better, though she's still coughing quite a bit and is still weak.

But she's not contagious, there's oxygen in case she needs it, and her mother is in the chair beside her, reading a magazine.

"Hey Angie, this would look really cute on you," she says.

Angie takes a look and blinks. "Mom, that's really...kinda short for me."

Shelley looks again. "Um. Did I tell you I never really grew out of high school?"

"Y'don't say," she says, laughing a little before dissolving into a hacking cough. Her mother rubs her back and gives Angie a tissue. "Ugh," Angie says, leaning back on the pillows. "This sucks."

Her mom grins and strokes her hair back. "Yeah, it does." She's so thankful that her daughter has let her back into her life.

"You're sure that work is okay with you taking this time off?"

"It's only a few days, Angie. Don't worry about it. Everything is all right."

Angela grins at her mother and closes her eyes again. Her mother will greet anyone who comes by.
