Hello, I was forwarded this link to some photos of Leningrad, with older photos from the siege (Sept 1941 - Jan 1944) blended in. I thought it was pretty neat, I thought you might like to see too.
Yes they did! Bake 'em in clay and the spines come right off, or so I'm told. I think you'll find instructions in Prehistoric Cooking by Jacqui Wood. When I was a lad, they made hedgehog flavoured crisps in Britain. I don't think they ever really contained hedgehog meat though.

Prince's Principle? How pleasingly alliterative! I had to look that one up I'm afraid, but the original work by Mr Prince was quite a cool idea.
