I just got back from an interesting argument about the relationship between redundancy and efficiency. It was ground breaking, very interesting. But not NEARLY is interesting as what Brian Greene had to say earlier.

Yes, I went and saw Brian Greene give his speech about strings,

Brian Greene is the author of The Elegant Universe: Superstrings, Hidden Dimensions,
and the Quest for the Ultimate Theory andThe Fabric of the Cosmos: Space, Time, and
the Texture of Reality. He also hosted a three-part NOVA special, “The Elegant Universe,”
on PBS. He is a professor of physics and mathematics at Columbia University, and is
widely regarded for a number of groundbreaking discoveries in superstring theory. He
received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his doctorate from
Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar.

In his national bestseller, The Elegant Universe (winner of the Aventis Prize, Britain’s top
science book award), Greene recounts how the theories of general relativity and
quantum mechanics transformed our understanding of the universe, and he introduces us
to string theory, a concept that might be the key to a unified theory of the universe. His
latest New York Times bestseller, The Fabric of the Cosmos: Space, Time and the
Texture of Reality, is a Book of the Month Club “Main Selection.” Publishers Weekly calls
it “popular science writing of the highest order.”"

Nothin new, already knew. blah blah. at the end though, he took time to answer questions... How is it??? that only the dumb dumb people get up and ask DUMB unrelated questions!?!?!

The 1st lady read a novel of crap about how a man and a woman try so hard to have a happy marriage or some crap and give birth, and then it led it to the big bang. And the question ended up being... why does the big bang have to be so violent?(took 5 min to ask this) and He gave the funniest expression of... wha? He doesn't even advocate the big bang, he just used it in part of his lecture. geez.

Then another guy, (a guy in a hippy shirt) asked him about the consequences of the metaphysical portion of strings. lol it was funny, because Mr. Greene responded asking the guy what he meant by that vocabulary and the guy stood there for like a min, and then asked a different question.

Take a frickin hint people.

Oh yea, watch his movies some time. they are awesome.
