If You Obey...
Read Deuteronomy 28:1 through 28:68;
Mark 12:13-34
Terry knew the physical deterioration of his digestive tract was merely a metaphor for the previous two years of giving in to his carnal spirit. Now, facing bleeding to death in a hospital room, Terry finally came to the end of himself. He knelt by his hospital bed and gave his life back to Christ.
Do not turn aside from any of the commands I give you today, to the right or to the left, following other gods and serving them (Deuteronomy 28:14).
Terry recalls the relief the Lord provided on that day of recommitment: “Months earlier-still lost in my sin-I’d lain awake each night, empty and worried. But that moment at the conclusion of my desperate prayer, I felt serenity. God’s peace that passes understanding filled my heart. And I slowly began spiritually and physically recovering.”
To be sure, sickness and traumatic events also happen in the lives of obedient believers. However, sometimes our caring God allows these things to bring people back to himself.
Prayer Suggestion: Please fill me with Your Spirit so I can only obey You through Your strength.
