hey itz april 2nd ..
There was a time, when people around me used to watch and up their guards on April, coz even I didn't know which direction my mood swayed to pull a prank on April 1st. That was long time ago and I have stopped it and let my guards drop as well.
April 1st had already passed like just another day .. I was sleeping like a dead log .. these days I get these calls "hi i am sushma (ya reshma or anita) calling from blah blah software systems (or inc or corporation). I have a job offer for you coupled with H1 visa (somehow I burst into laughter when I hear that "coupled", it seems like as though, everyone of them read the same book how-to-talk-to-potential-employee). We offer 3 months training in data warehousing (I thought it was a coolie job - initially, like you store things or move arnd things in a warehouse) or C or C++. We offer you a yearly salary off 50K-60K depending on experience" .. These just after I say "HI" and I am still waiting for her to take a breath so that I can grab that moment to say "No .. I am not interested", If it was a dude at the other end, I would straight away interrupt him ;-). Ok back to the topic, I let them leave the messages .. I call them back promptly later on just for fun .. afterall I got to find ways to use my 900 minutes/month on my cellphone.
This time it wasn't some consultant, It was a *friend* of mine whom I had recently visited (dude, If you are reading this, run and save your life, coz I will come and get you, cut your *peep* off and feed it to piranha). The message was "I am in SFO, lets meet for dinner, I will tell why I am hear later, sync up with (blah) and letz meet at (blah) restaurant". First, there cant be any official business trip on Sunday, so the guess was he was here to meet some female .. (lucky bastard, I thought and guessing has become so easy, I thought). after syncing up with (blah), I drive like 40 minutes up north in heavy rain which almost blinded the road, and I drove all the way following a red light. Ohh !! the red light was apparently was of an SUV which was going on the same direction .. so much trouble for having 20/20 eyesight which becomes totally useless in heavy rain ..
I reach promptly and wait for my friend (there are 2 others, whom i knew waiting of him as well) and he calls up the other person and says "I am running a day late, sorry" .. !! None cud figure out his prank, till he uttered, "I am still in Seattle" .. arrgghhh .. and we were there like fools (that too a day late) waiting for someone who wasn't even within 100 miles of that location .. Anyway, since we were there, I ordered food for the heck of it .. ate for the heck of being there .. drove all the way back following another red light ..
btw, that friend is gonna pay the bill for whatever we ordered ;-) that night .. that was the only solace for whatever happened ..
