So, I watched this movie today when it just opened. The first showing of the day too. And it was fantastic.
- I love it. The setup might be complicated, the action scenes mind-boggling, the mindf**k awesome, but it is put simply, it's a bank job gone dreamy. I like how it wove a love story to it, albeit an obsessive, codependent, destructive one.
- My favourite character is Eames, played by Tom Hardy. He bugged me until I realised that he played a part in Band of Brothers; the boys are everywhere! He was a great Forger. He got the job done, saving all of their arses really at the end. And I love a guy that says this at some point: You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is good too. You forget that he used to be this ickle thing and now look at him. Pretty darn good Point Man. - I know Leonardo DiCaprio acted better with age and his selection of movies but I can never, never, never forget that he's Leonardo DiCaprio no matter what characters he played. Sorry, Leo DiCap.
- It's pretty clear that Christopher Nolan trusts a few actors, so much so that they keep reappearing in his movies. And damn good actors too; Michael Caine, Cillian Murphy.
- I love the mix of the actors too. Sure, most are actors but the two main actresses are pretty badass too. And the locations in this movie, how sporadic yet gorgeous.
Still, I can see how this movie would not work for some people. If you like Memento, you'll enjoy this as well. In the meantime, have a go at the soundtrack presentation
here; it builds up, builds up...
