Brrr - It's a bit chilly for roof work...

Today's plan of starting to remove the old roof from the building that Dad and I are converting into a 2 bed cottage ended up being scotched due to a sudden snowfall. So glad you are here with us in LJ-land.
Did you have to put anti-freeze in your mortar? I remember helping my uncle lay brick in the winter and having to do this so the mortar would not freeze before it could be used.
And, what is a "boffin"?

A very English term that suggests someone with intelligence and knowledge, but probably slightly detached from the reality experienced by mere mortals, and with a side order of eccentricity thrown in for good measure.

looked like a very dicey idea

It snowed some more last night, and guess what; folks were supposed to be coming today (Ok, they were supposed to be coming yesterday, too) to fix my slightly leaky roof. I think I may end up waiting in vain, but driving to work would be too interesting anyway. Ah well, days like this were made for staying home. ;)
