nah, not virtual, these damned things are HP netserver LC3's or so it says on the case, both running duel pII 400's, only small 18Gb SCSSI's but I'm not gonna fill them for a while.

Linux does not appeal to me any longer, I just do not have the time to learn that on top of the other stuff I need to learn, right now My main priority is getting these things up and running, secure from idiots, preferably auto mirroring so as I always have the day befores setup as backup if one does go down. and preferably an additional copy to a third drive which I will install as soon as I work out how to penetrate their cases lol.

Apache I was considering, perl? erm is that still used lol, php and mySQL yeah, I need to start learning that side of things soon anyway. Lamp is a no go, cos as I said I havn't the time to learn to do things propperly again, Gatsie gave us Gui's (Well sold us them) and much as though I have shouted for years that Gui's gave computers to idiots, This idiot has started to accept there may be benefits.

What OS would you reccomend pre-apache instalation? I've not realy got the time/patience to prat around with instaling *nix, but if, and only if, It could be secured easily, I'd consider that over 2Kpro, XP can go to hell. Bring back 3.11 lol.

Ha erm, it's all very well having open source software, I agree with the open source ethic, but it does help if you understand a little about the language it's written in ;)

Any advice on auto management software hell all I want to do is install the "stuff" (tech term I'm assured lol) and use it to host my site/s whilst they are being built and tested, but I won't have the time/patience to be pratting with probelms that should by now have automatic fixes. (If it wasn't for greedy network managers)

Woo hoo, Got one of them up and running, I remembered apache wasn't that hard if instructions were read. The other is refusing to see it's second chip *Grumbles* Security? hmm well 2 of the smaller drives (still huge compared to the free online webspace) have write protect jumpers, so that will make for an easy run at things, I'll add a couple of switches to the front of their carriers, hook the switches up instead of jumpers, now it's just banning seriously heavy users i gotta get sorted, any ideas anyone?
