I was in an EB games today.
As I was waiting in line to make my purchase, i was overhearing an argument with a person and a couple employees. They had bought an XBOX 360 and wanted to return it, but they had opened it already. The employees kept on explaining that once it's opened they cannot exchange it unless they want to trade it in as "used" or if it was defective. One employee got all high and mighty and explained that he can't resell something that looks like it's used as a "new" item so that a full store credit was out of the question.
I'm not sure how it was resolved but the employee then started berating the customer, saying their policy was "crystal clear". He then turned to the guy in front of me who wanted to purchase some Madden 08.
Now EB does an odd thing when you want to buy a game. All the games boxes on display are empty. If you want a game you have to grab the box and show them what you want. They go and find an actual copy of the game and give it you.
The guy in front of me asked for a copy of Madden 08 for the PS3. The very same guy who was incredulous about taking back the opened xbox took the game box and picked up a cd and instruction manual from one of the drawers and then proceeded to charge him full retail price for a game that was already opened up. I would have said something about it .... but at that point i just wanted to get the fuck out of there.
Hypocrisy, yay!
