Media - oh no not again - this time re Milosevic

I really know very little about the 1990's war in the former Yugoslavia but I know more than the people writing the quick grab statements in the press. That is I know enough to know that its too hard for me to figure it out that easily.

You would think that Milosevic was responsible for all the problems and massacres. He was certainly a political shit-stirrer in a big way, a lover of power and willing to deceive and harm. His actions precipitated the federal break-up by making it impossible for the other nations to feel secure. But who can forget the role of Croatia in all this and even Slovenia? Okay none of them wanted to be bossed around by Milosevic and I don't blame either of them for pulling out of the federation but Milosevic didn't cause their national ambitions - they were already there, as strong as Serbia's. And what respect did Franjo Tudjman show for Muslims in Bosnia unless it suited him when fighting Serbs? He and Slobo had Bosnia all carved up between them - in theory. And then there's the cheek on record which the Serb Bosnian Govt dished up to Slobo. Can he really be blamed for Srebrenica ahead of or equal to Karadzic and Mladic? That hasn't been proved in court.

But the quick press grabs make it sound like he ordered the deaths of all those Muslim men and boys and ran the siege of Sarejevo. It was only last week the papers were talking about when the Bosnian Serb leaders will be handed over.. All I'm saying is that Milosevic didn't do it all by himself and for some of the time was probably trying to restrain the Bosnian Serbs in order to appease the European peace negotiators. But like all wars it is such a complex web and new truths come out every year that it's just easier to make Milosevic take the weight. Furthermore, Serbs have suffered too.
