Summary: Before Sasuke leaves.
“Run away with me,” Sasuke says, breathes a puff of smoke on to Naruto’s face.
In between coughs, predictable, Naruto snarls. “The hell I’m letting you go anywhere.”
Sasuke snorts, inhaling the last of his cigarette and crushing it on the pavement between his leg next to Naruto’s thigh. The expression on Naruto’s face is comical but not funny enough to warrant anything other than outward disdain that Naruto actually believed him. Never mind that he completely missed the point.
“I’m not being serious.”
“Oh,” Naruto says, soft, so fucking painfully obvious in relief, and just like that his anger’s gone.
Sasuke exhales, inhales the cool air of a summer night. The butt of his cigarette’s reduced to a stub that almost disappears between his fingers. “I wouldn’t have asked you to come if I was being serious. So the next time I ask...”
Firm, leaving no room for argument, Naruto says, “There won’t be a next time.”
“No,” Sasuke whispers, smirks when Naruto snatches what’s left of his cigarette from his hand. “There won’t.”
