Well, sis finally made it home, wheelchair and all, on Friday October 8th. The loaner wheelchair casters were screwing up so one night she almost fell onto the floor as she was transferring from the chair to her bed.
The bed decided to screw up within ten days of her being home and the guy who came to check it over insinuated that we'd screwed it up. Yeah dude, sis and I really had a chance to do that, considering we went to Stratford (Ontario) on the morning of Fri. Oct. 15th and didn't get home till nighttime on Mon. Oct. 18.
The trip went pretty good, no major catastrophes, and we met Geraint Wyn Davies, Nigel Bennett and Scott Wentworth, who were in, respectively, Do Not Go Gentle, Goodnight Disgrace and Guys and Dolls. We really enjoyed the plays and all three actors were very nice and charming, it was well worth the trip and any inconveniences were quickly forgotten.
Sis did a bit of food preparation on Sunday (Dec. 5th) for potato pancakes. It was the first time she's tried anything in the kitchen since before March 17th. It went pretty good. I cooked her pancakes and we both enjoyed some fries. I made her dry the dishes, which was a bit of a hassle, couldn't easily reach the sink with her there, and I had to take everything as she finished drying and put it away but I think she enjoyed feeling like she was actually doing something.
Plain cakes will be attempted on Saturday, and next week, banana cakes, for Dad's birthday, then mine, respectively (the 12th and 20th). Hope that dinner on Christmas won't be a disaster, since she and I will be attempting to make it, turkey breasts and stuffing and boiled potatoes, gravy, some kind of vegetable. We'll start preparing the stuffing on the 24th, to cook on the 25th.
Still see some improvement and we all still hope that she'll walk again one day.
