Blogging

I think there's a disconnect in my head when it comes to blogging.

While I have a "web log", I count it as a journal that I write in only when I have the desire to write out my mental state or current events.

So I don't really classify myself as a blogger, because I don't feel as though I "owe it" to others to post regularly. If you're still here! Hey! Hi! How's it going? I'm glad you still have LiveJournal, too! (Granted, I don't classify myself as a writer, either, so that may be where the disconnect lives.)

Main things I don't understand about bloggers:

-Apologizing for missing a day - You have a life! If you don't have time in a day or a week to post something, I doubt anyone is offended. After all, they want to read about your life experiences, right? I can understand if it's part of your job to post every day, but if you're a normal person, stressing out about not having time to post for a day or two is just unnecessary stress in my mind.

-Paying for "prompts" - I've seen friends GEEK OUT because someone was offering "free blog prompts." What? Hell, if you want a list of random topics to talk about this week, I've got a few improv games to help you do that for yourself. Or ask me for a list of 10 items. It'll cost you less. (Yes, I understand writers block sometimes makes this harder, and an assigned topic helps to get past that, but even this journal service has a topic of the day that comes with its *free* membership.)

-The Self-Imposed-Stress - panicking because you're so far behind on reading the blogs of the 100 other people who are in the same blogging community as yourself. Again, live your life. Read your blogs when you have time. If you don't have time, your blogging friends won't kick you out of the club... and if they do, that's not very friend-like... Again, this is supposed to be something you do for fun, to build your creative skill, and enjoy... unless it's your job, it's not a job. Just because you don't read one week's worth of posts doesn't mean you don't care about those people.

I just don't get it... But I'm not a blogger.

I do apologize to my blogger friends, and hope that my confusion isn't offensive. I just don't see the point in adding another stress into a life you're supposed to be LIVING for yourself. <3 (And I'm the MASTER at giving myself unnecessary stress.)
