Bands, A Guide to Enjoyment (pt 2)
Calling out for the hit single:
Do you WANT the show to end early? Are you TIRED of the band you've paid 8 or 15 or 25 dollars to see? Are you TRYING to insult all of their other songs?
No? Then why -- three songs into the set -- are you screaming over my shoulder for their hit single? You know they're going to play it -- in all liklihood second to last or just before the encores. Are you afraid the Flaming Lips have let the praise for their last two critically lauded albums go to their heads and will skip "She Don't Use Jelly?" Did you ignore Camper Van Beethoven's epic "Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart" and "Key Lime Pie" LPs and that's why you're screaming for "Take The Skinheads Bowling?" Do you really think Tenacious D will get out of here alive without playing "Tribute?"
