Well, Mara is about 3 months old now, so it seems like I ought to resurface and try to have some adult communication in my life.
Mara has been much more work than I remember an infant being. I'm sure this is mostly due to her
PKU. I guess I should say more about that, but I'm really not up to it now. Hopefully soon. She is doing well though and I can report that we're all madly in love with her.
Jerrod is coming home soon! He's been away far too long and we all miss him terribly.
And in more good news, we have
black caps! I've been talking about planting raspberries (and blueberries) at the edge of the forest for some time now. It seemed to me the perfect place for them. Now they've found us. There are several plants but only a couple are bearing fruit now. Michael was first to pick and try them right from the bush. Reminds me of when I was a kid and my brother Daniel and I would go off into the forest at the edge of our yard. We found wild blueberries, red caps and black caps. Often we were supposed to return a bowlful to our elderly neighbor, Sarah, so she could make us something lovely with them. We ate far too many on the way back though, but Sarah would never make us feel badly about it.
No matter what awfulness was going on back then, it always felt so good to be wandering about the trees, along the creek, wondering what treasure we might happen upon next.
