18 Weeks

Alrighty, I've survived the first trimester of pregnancy and am working on the second. I'm 18 weeks and 2 days today. I still have to throw up often... just not as often as last trimester (THANKFULLY). I talked to my doctor about it and she gave me Zofran, it's a great medication that melts in your mouth to make the nausea stop. The other meds she gave me made me sicker and tired if I could even keep them down so Zofran is much better.

Tuesday of last week was my last Doctor's appointment. They measured my pregnant belly and we got to listen to the baby's heart beat. Everything was normal. I also got my blood drawn for the AFP test. It's a test that can detect birth defects, like down syndrome and others. I was nervous but the doctor said not to worry, since no genetic diseases run in either of our families and we're both young and healthy people. Another week to go before we find out the results. Basically if there's no phone call, everything is fine.

I'm highly anticipating my next doctor's appointment. It's May 26th at 9 A.M. We will get to find out if the baby is a boy or girl. I can't wait. I really just want to know. No matter what it is... it's ours and that's all that matters. I can't wait to start buying baby things!! Speaking of baby things.... I'm going to have a baby shower in Utah as well as one out here in Cali. Not quite sure the date yet but we're thinking late July or early August. We'll see how it goes. It'll be at my in law's place in South Jordan. Every Utahn on my LJ is totally invited. I'll give you more details later.

The other fun development is that I can feel the baby move a lot more. And the baby moves A LOT. Sometimes it feels like little butterflies and some times it feels like a flick from the inside. I've been trying to get Mitch to feel it and he was getting frustrated that he couldn't. The day before yesterday though, there was the biggest kick I've had so far and I grabbed Mitch's hand and yanked him over just in time to feel the second, even bigger kick. His eyes lit up and he got all excited he could finally feel it kick. It was great. I teared up and he laughed at me for my crazier than normal crazy emotions. We're both very excited. :)
