Musing on Prisoner of Lilac Walls

Finally, we get the cast list!  (http://kageki.hankyu.co.jp/revue/170/cast.html)

I'm impressed as heck by the one-day sellout--I KNEW Teru was nibante for reasons besides her age.  Remi and Yuzurun helped, of course, but obviously the credit goes mostly to Teru.  Can't wait to see what happens at Nihon Nenkan.

Personally, I couldn't be happier about the casting.  Remi is coming into her own--she's led the last three Bow Hall plays she's been in.  I dunno if she'll make top, but there are those musumeyaku who become well-promoted stars in their own right without being top (Miwa Asahi, Hanakage Alice, Ootsuki Sayu, Kazune Miou), and now, she's truly one of them.  Lucia, you were right, I was totally jumping the gun to suggest she was through just because she was ignored for a short while, and I'm thrilled to be wrong.

And Yuzurun.  It's YUZURUN.  In a nibante role.  With ANGST.  EEEE!

Otoha Minori in the nibante musumeyaku role is interesting--I didn't really know her, but looking at her past roles, she might have a promising support career?  Especially since last and this year seem to be good years for 91st musumeyaku.  :D

(And as a fan of Otohana Yuri, I'm glad to see her in Rika Masumi's old role.  I take it as a hopeful sign that she's going to go the senka route, and make herself into the next Miho Keiko, blessing us with her seemingly fade-proof beauty and incredible talent for, uh, the next century at least.)

takarazuka, otoha minori, hoshigumi, ouki kaname, miho keiko, otohana yuri, shirahana remi, kurenai yuzuru
