The biggest one - I need to get back on the train to work. I"ve been driving the 25 miles each way, because there are no sidewalks between the station and my work, and after my boots got all the way soaked through in November, I decided getting sick wasn't worth it. Now that it's almost May, we are finally free of snow. I dreamt about getting back on the train for Earth Day. But it rained (and sadly it's still cheaper to drive). Call me a wus.
I get emails every day from my local "freecycle" (Gurnee, IL), but I have yet to post or take anything on that site.
(it has served me well in the past - i used to get cleaning and all kinds of supplies in Denver)
Also, recently joined swaptree.com, which sounds like a great idea, but I haven't put a single thing on my profile yet.
I could make better use of Craigslist and its imitators - saving greenbacks and perhaps some redundancies in our world.
Sites I do use -
mint.com for tracking personal finance
etsy.com for most gifts and fun shopping - all bought directly from the crafter!
In the real world -
I have (sadly) bought coffee in a paper cup too many times in the past month. Being busy is no excuse.
This week I've started bringing my reusable mug again for morning coffee. I've discovered that yes, Caribou will still serve me even though my mug says "einstein's" on it.
Next up, need to buy boxes of black tea for the afternoons, and completely eliminate the paper cups I've been getting for that. I know, I know, a box of black tea bags probably costs about the same as one tea-to-go at the bookstore. But I like going there for lunch! need to remember just to order soup-to-stay. No tea-to-go.
Recent win -
We recently bought a large-screen TV (i don't know its measurements, ask my husband).
instead of plasma, I talked him into getting an LCD because it uses less electricity, plus it cost $400 - $500 less than plasmas at the same size. Ya!
