Opportunity Costs

My computer has recently become really noisy. Like as I type on my clickyclacky keyboard, my computer is making noises nearly just as loud. This laptop is nearly 4 years old but it's like I can hear the parts wearing out - There are all kinds of hisses and clicks and other things I can't describe. I guess effectively it just needs to stay alive until Wednesday, when my last paper (ever? nahhh, there are probably essays to write in business school - on case studies and things) is due.

The funny thing is that though I haven't started my paper due Wednesday (or finished the one due tomorrow) I still agreed to go to my Professor Camara's house tomorrow from 5-8 for an end-of-the-year dinner + hang out + jam session? not to mention that's really 4-9 because of transportation each way, effectively leaving me only Tuesday for this huge paper. Everyone in my class of like 35 was invited and originally at least 20 people said yes. She just emailed us saying now only 5 of us are coming. If anyone should have backed out it's me - This thing is supposed to be like 15/20 pages! Oh man.

It'll be good to have a small group anyways. Plus, my theory is that hanging out with her outside of school may have even more of an impact on my grade than the actual content of my final paper? Do any of you agree with me that professors calculate our grades and then decide if it fits with their impression of what we deserve, especially in relation to everyone else? This is a Child Development Class, after all, not Calculus. She seems a little of a tough grader (an A- on my Group Music Lesson Plans for Kindergardeners? We did so damn well!) but this is the second time I volunteered to do activities with her outside of Tufts. She is really the first professor I've had who has gone out of her way to try to know us personally...and I'm happy to be one of the five who are taking her up on it.
