Sometimes, I wonder “What is the point?”
Many hours I will spend on a drawing in an attempt to complete it. Verily, I will pour my heart and soul along with my tears, pulled hair and the occasional sacrificing to giant flesh eating monsters into a drawing. If I am lucky, it will receive over 15 hits.
Then, by the means of pure derangement, I’ll spit out a 3-second craptastic doodle on post-it note paper and behold! Within moments I find that it receives over 40 hits.
Truly, this is a dismal world where people value horridly drawn Inuyasha fan-art consisting neither of skill or design over the works that even an Art Teacher may consider granting an A.
Though…. I wonder…
Maybe this all happens for a reason. Could there be something to learn from this strange state of affaires?
Perhaps the problem lies in Concept. Perhaps I have underestimated its influence.
Many of my images rarely start with a “Something to be said.” Rather, they slowly ooze their way onto the paper after several strikes of the Graphite and the Rubber Destroyer. Drawn, these works are, into a world where I value Skill over Concept.
All the while, The Craptastic One had this initial “Something to be said” and was drawn in a matter of seconds with quality never even considered.
Concept… You may prove a worthy advisory.
