House comes with installed Zombie Doors, for your protection

The weekend was lovely. For once I didn't do much, and spent a lot of time cleaning my apartment along with a couple of stints on the beach.

I finally got to cleaning and restringing the battered old blinds in my bathroom, for which I am very proud. Stringing the blinds was harder than imaginable, especially since I kept trying to find online stuff to help me. Unecessary! At least the blinds are a few shades lighter and the string that binds the slats is white!!! WHITE!

On Sunday, after cleaning, I went to a beach I had NEVER been to before: Petrie Island. All those years when I could have been at the beach while I was growing up were lost, as it was essentially a toxic dump for many years. It is supposedly "safe" now, though nothing could incite me to swim in those waters (even if there hadn't been an advisory in effect). It was a beautiful day though; I got quite a lot of reading done and was inspired by some shells.

The beach was followed by a superb dinner at my parents of grilled chicken, a corn cob, small baked potatoes with bacon, spinach salad with oil/lemon and feta, and a piece of Jeanne Benoit cake with Dad's jam inside. The only thing better than the dinner itself is taking home the leftovers!

Last night was my monthly (or is it bi-weekly?) zombie dream (I blame Harry Potter 6 for this one), though wonderously they played a very minor role. After some arcane event in the house magic started going haywire, and the zombies in the basement got restless and decided to climb the stairs. Apparently the house is not a stranger to such events as there were interlocking wooden slabs that came down at the top of the stairs to keep them in. Although I felt my usual stab of fear at wandering zombies, I nodded to myself in the dream at the efficiency of the slats, and kept on doing what needed to be done... which had something to do with getting someone somewhere... *rolls eyes* Dreams.
