Silent Genocide

I can't believe this is going on in the world.

These are two Iraqi children, genetically mutated by shells and missiles containing depleted uranium.  Besides the ghastly affects, the worst part is is that these aren't shells and missiles of Terrorist groups, this is  caused by American weapons.Depleted uranium is extremely toxic-- one millionth of a gram is fatal.  And it's everywhere.  A minimum of 500-600 tons of depleted Uranium dust is littered across Afghanistan, and several times that amount in Iraq.   In terms of global atmospheric pollution, we've already released the equivalent of 400,000 Nagasaki bombs.

I have seen a lot of ugly things, but this is the worst.  I have never seen something so gruesome, so ghastly, so evil as this.  I dare you to look at these pictures and see what is going on in the world, at this very moment.  I dare you not to look away.  This is the effect of nuclear weapons.  This is the effect of ignorance and hatred.  These children never did anything to deserve something so awful.  They were condemned by war before they were even born.  How dare I?  How dare we turn a blind eye to something like this?  How dare any of us forget what we have seen, push it into the corners of our minds to collect dust as we let this crime against humanity continue?

I can look at pictures of starved death camp victims.  I can look at pictures of beheaded Iraqi women, beaten and stoned to death.  But I cannot look at these.  I cannot look at a child who unfairly  carries the blame of the world on their body.  I cannot look at them without losing hope in humanity, without finally getting the initiative to do something about it.

The devil didn't do this;  We did.  And it's our responsiblity to finally do something about it.
