Obligatory "『IMMORTAL』WTF" post
My inital reaction upon seeing the tracklist for『IMMORTAL』was... disappointment.
But looking at it again, it's actually a kickass tracklist, just something I hadn't expected. I suppose I was hoping for-- instead of literally a "Best of"-- a "Really Old Songs with Shitty Audio Quality that Need to be Re-recorded" album. That's what I wanted. I was expecting songs like 密室ノ中．．．「イカレタキミ」ノ旋律,「朧ノ月」,「ファシズム」,「モノクロになった最期の日」, and「タトエバ」キミ．．．ガ．．．シンダ．．．ラ.
However, when I look at the tracklist again, I do think they picked some of their best songs, like 「 闇に降る奇跡」, "Forbidden", and「HORIZON」. I'm also hyper over「檻の中で見る夢」!! However, I'm really curious to what D'espairsRay is going to do to all the songs from [Coll:set] onward. I'm a bit against the idea of re-recording anything from [Coll:set] because, to me, those songs are already perfect, and they've existed for so long as they are-- it seems almost like blaspemy to do anything to them. But if they made a cool remix-y/new version, I think it'll be awesome then.
Overall, I'm not disappointed anymore. I trust D'espairsRay. I'd follow them into the dark.
BUTBUTBUT: I had the most hilarious dream last night!! After reading the 2000 interview notafanboy generously translated and learning that HIZUMI recorded the singing to 『蜘蛛』in a bathroom, I dreamt that I was listening to it and heard a toilet flushing in the background. XDD
