hey Kids...
I hope that you all had wonderful weekends!! The rest of my weekend was pretty good- Brianna and I went to see the indie show on Saturday night. It was really fun… I felt so little- I know that Susan and I always end up feeling young when we go to shows, but this one was an incredibly young crowd since the earlier bands were all high-schoolish kids (except for Smoosh). So Smoosh was pretty awesome. FYI if you go to their website, they’ll send you a free CD, and it’s totally worth checking out. There are 2 sisters- one sings and plays keyboard, and the other drums. They are super-cute. They look so YOUNG! I think that they're 12, but don't quote me on that. The girl who sings has a surprisingly good voice. Anyway, I’m not good like Dave at describing music, so I’d just say check them out when you have a chance. Schoolyard Heroes was another good band. They sound a lot older than you’d expect, and the girl who sings has really great stage presence for being 14 and all... But yeah, they were good. I'd definitely go to one of their shows... The other group that was awesome, I am totally blanking on the name, but it’s these two girls who have a boom box with pre-recorded songs, and they sing to some of them, and they have all these great dance moves. They kept trying to make everyone dance, but there were only about 5 people near the stage at that point, and I don't have enough self esteem for that on my own :) It was really fun to watch them though... And they had armwarmers, so that was pretty rad. I’ll have to figure out what they’re called… hmmm…
So the show was cool. I have no idea what I did Sunday… hmmm… I got our road trip pictures developed, and they totally suck, so now I have to go back and try to convince the guy to reprint them. I’m sooo not excited. You know my amazingly good confrontational skills. The sad part is that I would probably just get them all re-done somewhere else if I had the money… I got doubles and there were 4+ rolls, so it was like $60... blah…
Today I was bumming around. I called the temp agency, and the guy told me that he would need 48 hours to get back to me about my resume, which I thought was pretty lame. I mean if he looked at it for 42 seconds, it would show that I have enough experience to file stuff!! So that sucked. I was all grumpy, but then Tim took me on a field trip in his car, so that was fun. I like car rides =) I got to see his school, Bastyr, which is also where Sarah Strong is going… it’s really cute and little and in the forest surrounded by hiking trails. The building I guess was originally a seminary and then a rehab center, and now it’s a college, and all these random famous people have recorded albums in their chapel. It’s kinda cool.
When we got back I decided to go look for a retail job. It makes me stressed out to just sit around and wait to see if the temp agency is going to call me back… plus, maybe this way I can find something for the weekends… I think my new plan is going to be to make as much money as possible so that maybe someday I’ll be able to get a car. I know you can get away without one, etc., but if I end up moving to Cali in the fall, it’s going to be annoying to be depending on people for rides… I hate the “being stuck” feeling…
SO… I was on an incredibly exciting mission to Office Depot for cds so that I can print out my resume and turn in my class homework (I was a slacker last week…), when one of the kids I met at the bar called me. So I’m hanging out with him tomorrow, and then going to get drinks with Brianna later on. I was super excited. Then like an hour later, the other kid I met at the bar called too, and I’m hanging out with him on Thursday, and Sarah’s coming home on the 3rd…
So, yay, friends!
Hope that everything is going well for you guys…let me know what you’re up to…
*Hugs all around*
