Seuss?

OMG Seussical today. We performed for a FULL HOUSE for the first time probably in the history of the Strawberry Hill Players! (or the first time in many, many years...nobody remembers the last time the house was completely filled) All elementary school kids, the audience that this show was meant to have. They were so cute! They loved us!!!

Highlights:
-All the kids screaming when the monkeys stole the clover. Hee.

-Limone does a Q&A during intermission and the kids go crazy. One kid goes: "Why are they (pointing stage left) called 'The Pit?'" Limone immediately hands the mic over to Fasoli, who explains about how you're not supposed to see them, and how it works on B-way. Then he goes on to say: "So this school is very old and they never built a pit under the stage. Westhill has one, Rippowam has one, and we have...a corner." I almost died laughing, he was all DAMN YOU, ORCHESTRA GODS, DAMN YOUUUUUU!

-Finally seeing and hearing most of what Cat does after Jojo gets blown up--all the improv. Hooray for Mike Seiler being all cute for the kids!!

-Alex (our Horton :)) gets the clover back and starts with his "A person's a person, no matter how small"...and all the little kids started singing with him. It was the CUTEST thing ever in life!!!!

However, when we walked out in the hallway to say goodbye to the kids (even though we're not supposed to but we always see at least a few, it's inevitable), suddenly this wheelchair comes through. At first I thought it was a handicapped kid, cuz the woman was pushing it all slow...then I noticed that her head was all bandaged up with spots of red on the white gauze, and her hands are not just covering her face but clutching it, with blood running through her fingers. I find out later in the dressing room that it was poor little techie Laura D'Acres...she fainted up in the light booth (due to the heat, no doubt, it was like an oven in there), and her spotlight fell on her head (this may not be entirely accurate, but it's entirely possible and it's the story I keep hearing.) I hope she'll be OK...a spotlight is not exactly the best thing to get hit in the head with. Them bitches is big and heavy. And I thought getting beaned with the heavy metal pipe that they like to call a stage left railing last year was bad.

Techie Laura's in my prayers until I find out if she's OK. I'm really worried about her.

drama, seussical
