Bridesmaid dress shopping day with Michelle and the girls!!
I can't believe that before this year is over, she'll have a different last name. I also can't believe that at that point, we'll have known each other for over 8 years. Very few of you might remember this, and actually, this is one of the reasons I'm glad I've kept this journal for so long because I can look back on things like this...
I wrote this on the day I met her, first day of classes our freshman year at UConn! And now my sister and I are going to be in her wedding. Amazing.
Anyway, she's changed the color from sapphire to navy because the wedding is mid-November and they thought they should have a darker color. We picked
this dress with a silver-gray belt, and the ends of the belt are going to flow all the way down with the pieces in the back as well. All told, the 7 of us were at the bridal shop for 3 hours and didn't even crack open the bottle of champagne Laura and I brought because we were on Skype with her parents in England and in and out of the dressing room almost the whole time. Oh, well.
Aaaand... I'm kind of excited for myself. I still have some weight to lose, but hearing my measurements today was very interesting and a little uplifting. As of today (and this is most likely going to change in the next few months), I'm 36 bust, 27 waist, 39 hips (over my jeans, anyway). The woman then tried to order my dress for me and was acting like she didn't know what to do with me. "You're two sizes! Your bust is a size 8 and your waist is a size 4 and your hips are an 8, too! I don't know if I should order the 6 or the 8! You don't look like an 8!"
So she proceded to measure me for a 3rd time around the bust and hips. Even though she came up with exactly the same measurements as the person who measured me before her. She gave the tape measure a look like, "seriously?"
"Yeah, I'm probably an 8. The 8 in the fitting room fit pretty well."
"Are you serious? You just don't look like one!"
"Um, I camouflage it well...?" (Seriously, what do you say to that? It's a compliment for sure, but...?)
"Well I think an 8 will probably be too big but I guess we'll order it anyway."
"...Sure."
One thing's for sure, though... I need to have any dress ordered for me shortened by like 6 inches. :-P
