Yesterday - cousin Chris & Maria's wedding! One word - beautiful. We all cried when Chris' best man, his brother Louis, gave his speech and ended it with "and here are some blessings from people who should have been here today". On came recordings from Louis' wedding over 10 years before - from Chris' father and grandfathers, with well wishes and love. It gave us chills and there wasn't a dry eye in the place.
Today - Happy Columbus Day and National Italian-American Heritage month! Did you know that this year marks 150 years of the unified country of Italy?
Here's pretty much all the new coverage I could find about the parade that my family breaks its back to produce in this city:
Stamford Columbus Day Parade to Salute Actor. We honored
Michael Dante, an amazing and gracious man from our home town. He and his wife are the kind of people who feel like family, like you've known them forever.
But let me just say, our local news station SUCKS. SUCKS. I'm watching right now, and I hardly saw them at the parade! They're famous for filming the feet of marching bands. Then, they filmed some dude from New York...and do you know what was playing in the background of his "interview"? ONLY OUR DANCE NUMBER!!! THE BASTARDS!!! Why the hell did they think it would make more sense to interview some outsider who's never even been to the parade before in favor of the people running the parade? Or the actual Italian entertainment?? I'm not saying don't interview them if you want to - just pay attention to the people that matter!!!! That broke their backs and deserve some recognition LIKE MY FATHER.
I will be writing and complaining. Those idiots are putting me in a bad mood after an otherwise successful day. I only hope our local journalists make up for it.
