Weekend-y Things

As it turns out lately, this blog has turned into a chronicle of my summer adventures (and misadventures). And that's OK because since I haven't been working, there's nothing too deep to discuss anyhow.

So, anyway...if someone invited you to their birthday party, and it was a 90's party, what would your first reaction be?

Mine was, "90's??? But I was so ugly in the 90's!!!"

Childhood/adolescent self-image issues for the...well, for the fail, really. :-P

I ended up resurrecting a bunch of old jewelry from Claire's and Limited Too (cartoony blue flowers and peace signs, anyone?) and I also found my butterfly clips ( guinea pig not included). I wore a bright plaid camp shirt over a cami, with the most flared-leg jeans I own, and then told everyone I was their worst middle school memory of the 90's. :-P

It was fun, though - a weekend with the old college roomies, Jenny, Tina and Melissa! :) Jenny took the cake in her hot pink jeans and bright blue striped tank top - tucked in, of course. She wore these sunglasses to complete the look. It was fabulous. XD

The next day, I went with Jenny and her fiance Jon and a bunch of their friends to Brownstone Exploration and Discovery Park in Portland, CT. I'd never been to a place like it! Apparently, it used to be a rock quarry that they filled in to make a lake. You can't touch the bottom, so you have to wear a life vest the whole time. And the lake is filled with huge inflatable things to climb up and jump/slide off of! There's also cliff jumping and several zip lines that go out over the water. It was fun! My favorite was this mini rock wall that you climbed in the middle of the water onto a 6'x6' platform. There is only one way down - jumping. There's a diving board with no support on either side that you wobble your way onto , and then you jump onto this huge inflated bag that I kept referring to as the blob because it reminded me of the one from Heavyweights. After you land on your butt, and you have to be careful not to slide off the side!, you scramble your way over to the end. The person jumping behind you then launches you into the air when they land! I landed on my head in the water, but it was so worth it!! There's a ton more stuff to do there, too, so I plan on going back sometime.

Sunday was slow - went walking around West Hartford Center with Jenny and her friend Jen, and then went to my cousins' graduation party. It was a good time, but hot and muggy and I drove home in a thunderstorm. :-P

Hope everyone is having a good week so far! :)
