I'm Feeling:
indescribable
Because I figure that I'll be able to sleep in tomorrow (HOORAY!), so I can stay up till he gets home to call me. My nights really don't feel as complete if we don't say goodnight before I go to sleep. <3
Today was nice and relaxing. Maureen and Alan made pancakes from scratch, yum! And, after my shower, I got this weird urge to watch The Sword in the Stone. Thank God for Youtube. ;)
Maureen hosted a potluck dinner party at the apartment today, which I was able to attend now that I wasn't going to the football game :-P, and so I had to cook something, too. The trick was, one of the guests was allergic to both onions and garlic.
...Excuse me, I'm Italian, what did you say?? What exactly do you eat, dear??? :-\
After some deliberating on the phone with dad, we decided I could make what Mrs. Van Doren used to call "New" Potatoes - you know, the little bitty ones, in butter and parsley and salt and pepper. Mmmmmm.
Maureen's friends are an interesting bunch, to say the least! They are almost all grad/doctoral students in the History Department at UConn, except for Erin (the one who was allergic to onions and garlic), who is a middle school teacher, and her sister Sarah. And, what I found most interesting was the fact that they were mostly all married or engaged! Oliver and Erin are married (to each other), Becca is married (to Adam, who wasn't there because he's in a band, which I will talk about in a bit), and Eric is engaged to his girlfriend who lives in CA. It was a strange dynamic for me - all this wedding business. I'm starting to get used to it, but just barely. I always say it, but it really is kind of weird to me when I sit down and think to myself, holy cow. I'm 22. I've already been to 2 weddings since I started dating Greg in February '08. And we're going to 2 more that are scheduled, and many more after that. It's all in such rapid succession! I'm friends with married people who are about my age now!!
I don't think I'll fully get over it for another couple years. Hopefully by the time I get married I'll be completely past this foolishness. :-P
Sorry about that.
Anyway, after dinner we went to the Stonewall Tavern to see the History Department's resident band - the Flat Earth Conspiracy. They play classic rock, and are pretty much made of awesome. XD It was such a great show! AND, I ran into Tina there!!! It was so good to see her - I don't think I can remember the last time we spent time together since junior year, when we had our couple of Italy "reunions". Tina was my travel buddy in Italy for the most part, and she's a wonderful, wonderful person. :)
We left a little early because Alan's ears were killing him - we were sitting really close - and I've been home for about an hour now.
Good night, everyone <3
