It's an obvious indicator that I'm back in school when I can manage to find about 50 different distractions in one hour when trying to study for classes. Amazing. I noticed it the other night as I sat in my little study area, which was tidy and well lit for once. After 17.5 minutes of reading my mind was wandering, I was thinking of all of the people I haven't talked to in ages, and decided that it would be a perfect time to leave all of my long lost friends messages. Eventually, after about ten minutes or so, I landed back at the pile of books and notes taken, and got back to it. About 15 minutes later I had found yet another distraction, something imperative, although now I can't remember what was so important then. The interruptions continue, until I remind myself what I'm really avoiding.
I did the same thing tonight, except I really did have some cool things to take care of. Like catching up with some old friends. Totally worth it though!
Then I ended up at Angie and Shaton's house, where I recorded a video of Shaton singing for this contest to sing in the Superbowl next weekend. That was a very valid reason to not do homework, especially if she wins. I'm going to post again once her video is up and ask that everyone go vote for her because if she gets voted into the top 10, she'll be a finalist for the contest. I think she's one of my favorite all time singers. Her singing renews my faith in God each and every time, because it's truly an incredible, healing, wonderful, amazing experience to be able to hear her sing. She won the Motor City Pride Idol competition last summer, and was a finalist at the Cadillac Club Idol here in Lansing a few months ago. And soon enough she'll be famous. Maybe next weekend at the Superbowl.
My girl and I are planning a trip out to San Francisco for our birthdays at the end of March! She has yet to see San Fran, so I'm elated that we'll be able to do something she hasn't experienced yet. We're also going to be meeting up with Matie and Miriam there, and we'll be staying with JNo, so it's sure to be a fantastically debaucherous time. I might also be planning a little surprise for the girl while I'm out there. We'll see what transpires over the next month.
At the end of this month we'll be going to Kingstock in Milwaukee to hang out with our Miltown buddies. The last trip was for A's Dirty Thirty Birthday bash, which was a blast and a half. Let's just say that the night ended with the band who'd played in the basement lighting a blow up doll on fire with Everclear. It was definitely the sign that the evening needed to end for all of the visitors. We got tickets on megabus.com for $4.25 round trip per person because megabus.com is giving away 100,000 tickets between now and March 11th, so any midwest friends should check that out. The promotional code for the free tickets is WIN2008. We leave from Ann Arbor at the butthole of morning, hit Chicago for a couple of hours, then hop on our connection and make it into Milwaukee just in time for dinner. I'm so looking forward to another weekend with the Miltown crew. If you haven't been there yet, it is definitely a good city that comes with high recommendations from moi. I mean, it's the home of PBR. What could be better than that.
