Christmas Wish list

Nov 20, 2008 18:15

Step One
Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two
Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals, or holiday_wishes) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1. I'll start with the big one. One that no one but ABC can grant: RENEWAL of Pushing Daisies!!!! (Oh and if it's not too much trouble Dirty Sexy Money too!) Come on ABC, make me have faith in networks again. Please.

2. Here's one that's slightly smaller. Can someone put Shonda Rhimes back on her meds? Seriously? Because her crazy-stalker obsession with Jeffrey Dean Morgan (who I love dearly, in other circumstances) is ruining my beloved Grey's Anatomy. I just want my show back.

3. Midnight Sun. Stephenie Meyer, I beg you. Please finish Midnight Sun. Please.

4. Alex O'Loughlin back on my television. I don't care how, where, when or why. CBS green lighting his new show would be good. But I'm not picky. I'll watch him recite an encyclopedia if I have to.

5. On to more practical wishes. I would love to have some more GIFs for my sidebar. Any with my favorite fandom pairings would be awesome. Buffy/Spike, Meredith/Derek, Owen/Cristina, Edward/Bella, Lois/Clark, Chloe/Oliver, Mick/Beth, House/Cameron, Jack/Kate, Booth/Brennan, Mal/Inara, Nick/Karen, Tony/Ziva, Bill/Sookie, Harry/Ginny

6. Any other fanart or fic featuring any of the above pairings. Or any character studies of any of the individuals. I'm pretty open when it comes to fic and art.

7. A banner for my Smallville fic, "Someone to Save You." It's a Chloe/Oliver fic. It has appearances from the Justice League, Clark and Lois. (To those who are awaiting an update, I'm working on it, I promise!)

8. I nearly always get books for Christmas. It's a very Dumbledore-esque thing for me. I love all kinds of books, especially historical fiction, Civil War and American Revolution histories, and fantasy. I don't really have any titles in mind though. Except the two newest Kathy Reichs books. I haven't had a chance to get those yet. :-)

9. Music. I love music. Country, Alternative, Rock, Classical, Oldies, R&B.

10. Finally, I just want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I hope that you have a wonderful holiday and get to spend it with family and friends.

Ok, that's it. If anyone wants to tackle anything here and my clear-as-mud descriptions are un-helpful, just shoot me a PM. Or if you just want to commiserate about network stupidity, leave a comment! Merry Christmas!
