10. Meredith Grey
I know a lot of Grey's fans find her annoying. But I identify so much with her. The fact that she's had so much shit happen to her and she's still functioning is a miracle. Sure Mer's got her faults: she's self-absorbed, got huge daddy issues, watched her mother try and commit suicide, and nearly drown. But every time she gets knocked down, she comes right back up. Go Mer!
9. Chloe Sullivan
Ah, Chloe. The heart and soul of Smallville. Yeah, it's Clark's show, but he'd never get very far without his loyal sidekick. She's brilliant, sarcastic and tenacious. From the Wall of Weird to the halls of the Daily Planet, Chloe Sullivan has been a girl with a mission. She fights for what she believes in. She keeps her beloved Clark on an even keel and works day and night to keep him on his detined path. Chloe is the best friend we all wish we had.
8. Temperance Brennan
Dear, dear Temperance. Or as Booth calls her "Bones." What can I say about her? She's brillant to a fault, awkward, loyal and tenacious. Not to mention a damn good shot! She makes forensic anthropology look like fun. Brennan has come so far since the show began. Her parents' abandonment left a huge emotional void that she is still working her way out of. But thanks to her partner, Special Agent Seeley Booth and the rest of the squints, Brennan's well on her way. I love her banter with Booth. Hopefully those two crazy kids will get their act together some day!
7. Commander Harmon Rabb, Jr.
An oldie, but goodie. For 10 seasons Harm led the craziness that was JAG. Handsome, smart, funny and slightly insane. (You'd have to be crazy to do some of the things he did!) He went from being a Navy fighter pilot to a kickass lawyer. Women literally threw themselves at him. But he was only interested in one: his partner, Major Sarah "Mac" MacKenzie. They finally got their happily ever after in the finale, well sort of. *sigh*
6. Buffy Summers
Buffy. The Chosen One. The Slayer. One girl in all the world...blah, blah, blah. You know the rest. She was the petite blonde who could kick your ass. She slayed hundeds, if not thousands, of vampires. She even loved two of them. She sent her boyfriend to hell to save the world. She DIED twice to save the world. She was the slayer for so long that she got a superiority complex. And then she got an inferiority complex about it. She was witty, loyal to her friends, more alone than anyone in the world. What's not to love?
5. Oliver Queen
Ollie! Before season 6, I was all bout Clark. I mean, he's Superman, for god's sake! But then Ollie arrived in Metropolis and stole me away. Oliver appears to be your average billionaire playboy. But he's so much more than that. Painfully human, he's taken it upon himself to don the green leather and go out and fight for justice in an unjust world. His example has inspired Clark, and the rest of the fledgling Justice League, to go out and fight the good fight. He's got a tragic past and rises above it, sacifricing love and normality to do his part. I can't wait to watch him this year!
4. Dr. Gregory House
Yeah, he's an ass. He's rude. He pops Vicoden like PEZ. He's got a bum leg. But he's brilliant. He solves medical mysteries that no one else can. Which is good because he'd never have a job otherwise. Every other hospital would have fired him long ago. But he's still woking at PPTH. He'll never be a fluffy teddy bear, but I don't care. I love him anyway.
3. Special Agent Seeley Booth
What to say about Booth? He's the ying to Brennan's yang. They just fit together. Why do I love Booth more? (Well, besides the obvious...) Booth appears to be the typical alpha male, as Brennan would say. But he's got a dark side. His time as a army sniper was not pleasant. He's got some demons. He works constantly not to them them get the better of him. He's a single father, devoted Catholic and kick ass FBI agent. He believes in the system even though he knows it's flawed. And he's go to hell and back for his friends and family, especially his Bones.
2. Mick St. John
Damn CBS. Damn them to hell for taking my beloved Mick away! OK, I feel better now. I went into Moonlight certain I was going to hate it. Nothing could compare to Buffy and Angel. For me Joss Whedon was god of all things vampirey. But by the end of the pilot, I'd fallen hard for Mick. He's drop dead gorgeous, funny and fearless. He's got the crazy ex, Coraline, the awesomest best friend, Josef, and forbidden love, Beth. He's damn near perfect. I miss him terribly.
Which brings us to...
1. Spike
What do I love about Spike? Everything. Seriously. He started out at the Big Bad and morphed into a champion. All for the love of a girl he couldn't have. He made no apologies for being what he was. He called life as he saw it. He was love's bitch and didn't care. Hell, he even put up with that ponce, Angel, to honor the life of a friend. Did I mention he died saving the world? Yeah, he did that too. And he's British. And sexy. And funny. And FOUGHT for his soul, unlike a certain other vampire. And if Buffy doesn't want him, I will gladly take him off her hands.
