Had a follow up u/s yesterday and OB appointment and all is well with "sweet pea" as IM has dubbed him/her. My blood pressure was nice and low (104/64) and I actually lost 2 pounds from being sick this past week.
The u/s tech didn't even have to use the "weenie wand", lol! She put the regular transducer right on my abdomen and VOILA! There was a beautiful little baby, heart rate of 185, and s/he was actually starting to wiggle around in there too. I have had many, many, MANY ultrasounds (6 kids worth!) and it never ceases to amaze me each and every time. Baby F. even has distinct arm and leg buds already.
The doctor himself wasn't there but I talked with the nurse midwife after the ultrasound and I completely broke down when I brought up the c-section issue. She reassured me that the doctor will not be upset if I decide to go elsewhere because of his refusal to let me have a trial of labor for a VBAC, and in fact she herself had her 2nd vaginally after having her first via c-section. Boy did THAT make me feel better. She said she completely understands and told me I have to do what I feel is right for me. She also suggested that I have plenty of time to make that decision and that if she were me, she'd continue with the current doctor throughout all the diagnostic stuff (probably at least through the amnio) and then make that decision and switch. That way if there is a problem when we get the amnio results I will be with the doctor that I have been with for a long time, that I love and trust, that knows my history better than anyone and will, etc. I think that is probably what I am going to do at this point and just take it one appointment at a time up until that point. I have already made appointments with the new doctor so I suppose I will have to call on Monday and cancel those. I just hope they understand as well.
Next appointment and ultrasound is April 10th!
