She's never really considered being with Jack. He's her friend, and she can't. Can't imagine him *doing* stuff to her. But she's been on the edge of pondering it, wondering what would happen if they met under different circumstances.
What if they were friends but not *too* close? Like she met Jack through Pete, and they got along but she didn't know him so well that she'd worry about how many women he's been with and if that would mean he'd dump her after he did her a few times.
(She'd probably be able to tell, anyway, get a slutty vibe from him. Or Pete should warn her about his friend's grossness.)
What if he were a little younger, like forty-three? And not so rich that she'd have to live in a creepily big apartment? Let's get rid of the Republican part, too, and make him an astronaut, *and* he looks as good as he did at twenty-five.
(She's making him into a different person, which isn't in the spirit of the 'what if?' game a lady sometimes plays when it's three in the morning and Lifetime's switched over to Paid Programming.)
What if he were himself, but not her boss, and thinking of settling down, also not half-smitten with someone else, and they started dating randomly? Like they met in an elevator and found each other attractive. Because he's not terrible looking, and she's not always a mess. Then she got to know him and *like* him. Because there are times, when he does something nice... or is just *himself,* that she gets why women fall for him.
(Maybe they would've worked out. But if they did, if they got married, she'd be Avery and have a husband who forgets about their baby.)
Point is, she doesn't really consider Jack. There's no reason to.
