I hope we get to see how that conversation with Liz goes, though. Yikes. :( :( :(

There's a decent chance I will write that! I've been randomly thinking of this scenario, partly because of the fact that I don't think current!Avery would be okay with it* and do wonder how Jack would go about reneging on that promise to help Liz have a child.

*It's debatable if last!season!Avery would be okay with her husband impregnating another woman, but since she was sort of sold on her 'coolness,' I think it was more likely then than now, when she's obviously a bit unsettled by Jack and Liz's relationship.

And I do think Avery is being reasonable in objecting to it. I'm pretty sure I would.

Yay! Yeah, I agree. Earlier this fall I was tossing around the idea of a super!happy fic that takes place a few years in the future, when both Jack and Liz were happy with their spouses and kids and were still BFFs and happy about it -- so, trying out the opposite of what the fandom has been feeling like -- but once I started to see more of Avery this season, the less that scenario worked. So now I fiddle with an alternate version where Jack and Avery are unhappy, buuut, that lends itself so easily to Jack/Liz that it feels like cheating a little

It is sort of cheating, but at least it's at least canon-supported cheating? I am finding it more and more easy to write Jack/Liz fic set in current canon because of how shaky and distant the Jack/Avery relationship has seemed. (Which I'm getting more and more convinced isn't intentional; not from any new evidence, just a general feeling that I think they're handling the relationship poorly as opposed to portraying a bad relationship.) I feel sort of weirdly nostalgic about how I portrayed Avery in the death fic I wrote a while ago; I think, if Liz-Jack's love interest tension exists, even fleeingly, I only want it to lead to Jack/Liz subtext, and if that's not going to happen (which it's not, in the show as it is currently), I'd prefer a canon where everyone gets along and Avery/Carol/whoever 'gets' the Jack/Liz friendship

If that's not making me do something, I don't know what is.

Well, for one, Liz isn't even in it. I suppose on its own that might not be a horrible thing. But then combining that with the fact that he's appeasing Avery and turning down Liz.

As a reader instead of a writer, I get to ignore the fact that all of that might be reasonable given the storyline you have constructed up to this point. I get to make nasty faces at you regardless.

Yeah, I get where you're coming from. I don't really like Jack reneging on this sort of promise, but, yeah, I think it's how it would go down; Avery is a bit wary of their friendship, so I don't think she'd want him to help her have a kid.

I think he's gone behind Avery's back enough. (Even if I'm not her biggest fan at this point.) That is a scenario I pondered, though, I must admit.

Plus, the kid is gonna come out with his lips, if the Baldwin brothers prove anything.

Really, though, I do feel like they would be found out. And that Liz would feel bad about doing something like that behind Avery's back.

I just hate the Jack who likes (has sex with) Avery. I have no other words.

Do you hate Jack on the show currently? Or just when he's in scenes with Avery? (I don't get why he likes her.)
