If Liz needs any more proof that she loves Jack, here it is: she's about to hyperventilate because he's in the hospital. It's nothing life-threatening -- his car got sideswiped, and he has some cuts and a sprained wrist -- but all she can think is what if it were serious?
The first thing she says when she sees him: "You have to fire your driver."
"The accident wasn't his fault."
"But he's bad luck. So fire him." She shakes her head. "No, don't fire him. Just don't ever die."
Jack's brow furrows. "I believe that's more difficult than terminating an employee."
"Spaceman has to have some drug that can keep people alive forever, right?"
"He has been doing some research in that area. Ironically, it's resulted in numerous fatalities." He pauses. "Lemon, are you crying?"
She wipes her eyes. "Maybe. I really don't want you to die."
"I can assure you a minor wrist injury won't kill me."
That she immediately thinks of Colbert proves being near Jack has somewhat calmed her. She's still kinda crying, though.
He wraps his arms around her. "Perhaps I should remove you as my emergency contact."
"I want to be the person they call." She grips onto the back of his shirt. "It's... as soon as I thought of you being in the hospital, I started thinking about you dying. Which is crazy because I knew you were okay, but I couldn't stop freaking out because... I don't want to be without you."
He kisses the top of her head. "I don't intend on going anywhere."
Part of Liz thinks, Even you can't will yourself not to die, but the rest is comforted by the fact that he's right here, perfectly fine and isn't scared away by her being kind of insane. "Okay." She lets out a breath as he holds her tighter. "Okay."
