Promotions and such...

Ian got word yesterday that he's being promoted to Department Head of Plumbing, Kitchen & Bath. Apparently all the departments wanted him, but Tim (I think that's his name) called dibs. So that's exciting. He got a raise, too, which is nice. It'll mean a whole lot of craziness from here on out though -wacky schedules, and having to work some weekends. :\

They asked him again how far he wants to go in the company because they're pushing to have him as an Assistant Store Manager by the end of the year, but that it all depends on how much support he'll get at home. So of course I want to be supportive. I think it'll mean I have to be more independent and reliable at the same time. I'll have to develop my own schedule but keep in mind common meal times and you know, together time. (I can see how the more work you take on the more necessary and valuable your vacation time is.) They also said that to get that far he should have an AA. So I was like, "What, you're going to be like Shawn now? Working and then going to school at night?" And he said no, that everyone there does it online, usually through the University of Phoenix since they're "aligned" with Home Depot somehow. So he has to look into that too.

Speaking of vacations, Ian's going to a big music fest in LA at the end of March with Jason, Jim, and Jim's woman. He's been planning it since November or so, and it should be a good break for him. At least he already got the time off, so it won't interrupt his new schedule. He's still has several Tuesday training days (today he's in Ukiah, sheesh) but he said he starts as DH on the 12th.

It's all very... big. Or something. A lot to consider and take in. But I think it'll be good -Ian's got the brains for this, and he should put them to good use. AndI've got some brains and I need to put them to good use. :P *kicks own butt*

Anyway, in other news it's been very cold, windy, and rainy the past few days. We actually had a dusting of snow on the mountaintops this morning, but it's nearly all gone now. They've been promising thunderstorms, but so far nothing. :\ Sucks for laundry though. And taking the dog out. The garage isn't leaking anymore, yay! It looks very ghetto, but... hey, it works. I still haven't managed to get out and finish pruning my roses, and they need it -badly. I need to plant my grape plants too -after I figure out where. And order my dirt! I can't wait to get some dirt in my planter boxes and have an actual garden this year! :D

I had my annual OB/GYN exam yesterday (first one in about seven years) and everything went fine -hopefully the PAP results will be too. That... ailment I had about a month ago went away shortly after starting the second type of antibiotics, thankfully. And no breadbox either! :D They still didn't know exactly what it was, just that I hadn't done anything to cause it. I'm just glad it's gone.

So I have lots of stuff I should be working on and I need to get to it!

life, ian
