What are you doing in Seattle tonight?!
(All-4-One sung with Kelli Crooks in time to legs pumping on the Rock Creek swing sets; "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" sung, with the choir, in the auditorium, although the audience you really had in mind was one person, sitting in the band, stage left; winding roads to Black Diamond; the mountain looming, reliably, to the south (if faint, if obscured by clouds); the musky, husky scent of wet bark, overlaid by green, everywhere, everywhere; the lake that was not Lake Forest, despite ample suggestions; the him, the him...)
Oh, you silly girl! This is all super superfluous now. You wouldn't jump off of those swings, wouldn't call to hear a voice and hang up, wouldn't build forts out of branches across felled trees. (You definitely wouldn't sing in public.) You're beyond Keds, if not Zach Morris-y blondes. And you never even loved it.
You're so useless to me at four a.m....
Get some sleep,
you.
