I am sitting at the University of Michigan Pediatric Rehab clinic. We have been coming here for TWO years. Usually weekly but sometimes up to THREE times a week. Violet had behavioral, physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Ophelia had physical therapy and speech therapy. Ophelia learned what she needed to do walk here.
Violet had a recent speech eval two weeks ago services are no longer needed. The speech path gave us major major props for how we have worked with Violet and how much we do at home. Violet has a minuscule issue with her visual memory but otherwise -she does not need services anymore. It is not to say that we will never need help again but with what we do at home - we are good. Violet is the poster child for the success of early intervention.
Ophelia is having her last speech appointment today. Ideally she would be seen for another month to continue to work on consonant blends but otherwise - she is excelling constantly.
For two years we have driven the 30 miles each way - rain, snow, shine, construction. People have always said "Ann Arbor - really?" Yes. Really. It has been so worth it. Our girls are doing amazing. Thank you to our families for helping us drive, friends who listened to us vent,, my Mom for use of a nice car and the tanks of gas, the Nannies who obliged, and the therapists who have been time and tears into giving our girls the best start we could have ever hoped for.
I can't say Good Bye Forever because we would always be welcome back here and the team here would work with us if anything arises but I can say SEE YOU LATER ALLIGATOR ! After while crocodile.
Thank you again to the University of Michigan!
