This week we had a member of the Bell Shakespeare Company, Sarah come in and show us a few things about ‘The Tempest’. Sarah also workshopped with us scenes from Will Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’, she did them in more easy to understand language and I now have a bit more understanding of the play and the goings on in the play as well. I saw The Tempest in 2006 here is the URL

I was actually a little uncomfortable doing the workshop at first because I don’t see myself as an actor/actress I don’t want to become one nor do I have any ambition to, acting really isn’t my thing. So we had to walk around the room and hum and make noises and I felt really ridiculous doing it, I know I am not the only one that did! We were given a sheet after that with Shakespearean insults and that wasn’t so bad walking around and insulting people, but I did find it hard to keep a straight face without laughing!
Noha and I got up a little later on and did a scene between Ariel and Prospero, I must say it was really hard to try and be mean to Noha because she is a lovely girl and she has one of those faces that when she is pleading with you (acting out Ariel’s part) you just can’t be mean!
All in all it was a good day, even if it was a little uncomfortable, hopefully next week when Sarah visits us again we feel more comfortable doing the strange things that actors/actresses do!
