This weekend...

This weekend was interesting. I'm behaving old... I don't go out and do anything fun... party or get out. Everything seems focused around family. Errands and entertaining the kids...etc.

Saturday I had Natasha while Ryan took Austin to the gym with him. I had Natty down on the floor. I put a toy she wanted in front of her, just out of reach. Then I put her knees up under her and she propped herself up on her hands into a crawl position. She seemed quite proud of herself and was smiling. She didn't know what to do next however and after about a minute, she let her legs sprawl flat behind her and she was down again... I repeated this a few times and then gave up on that. Instead I started putting my arm behind her feet and braced myself... Allowing her to push off / forward and eventually reach the toy... She immediately popped it into her mouth, of course. Then I took it and put it ahead of her again, a little further this time... and then repeated the arm behind her feet idea... She was frustrated with me for taking her toy and fussed a bit, but all the way, squirmed forward to grab the toy and again put it in her mouth. We did this about 3 or 4 times. Each time she did get the toy, but her fussing began to turn into an all-out wail, so I stopped... Enough for one day I guess. She's only 6.5 months old. Cute as can be. I still tear up if I stare at her for too long. I'm so proud and in love with her!

Later on Saturday, Deb picked Austin and I up to visit the Coyote Pt. Museum... She has Presley and Cooper with her. Tony was away on drills this weekend. We had a good time. Austin was very entertained, but he got pretty wound up and stopped listening. He started running off while we were outside which upset me. Finally I caught him and had to drag him back by the ear, literally which he definitely doesn't like. He had his time out and understood not to run away from us again. He didn't make it easy, and tried every way to complicate things as a way of 'getting back at us'... But in the end, we got through it. Later we took them to the park down the road and had a blast there. It is a huge HUGE set of jungle-gyms... One of which is about 3 stories high with a slide all the way down... Quite impressive and the kids loved it. But it was cold and Cooper was getting very fussy... We called it a day.

Sunday I needed to run errands. I took Natty with me to HomeDepot to pick up a pole for her bedroom tapestry. She's fun to take places right now. she's so cute and engaging... I pop her into her baby bjorn, facing forward and she's happy as a clam. I get tons of comments on her and she's never fussy. I feel bad though, when she passes out in the car and I have to wake her up to get her transferred to the bjorn. Oh well.  I set up her room (except for the hanging lantern light fixture which needs Ryan's touch due to the height). I also got some laundry done and put away. And we straightened the house a bit so the cleaners could actually clean today... :-)  We also did some grocery shopping. Wow is baby food expensive! I had forgotten. Geez. A family could go broke.

So, it sounds like a boring weekend. And I won't deny that it was... But it was a mommy weekend I guess. Productive and involving lots of kids. I also got to see the Quest for Camelot, Training your Dragon, and Tangled this weekend... None were FANTASTIC, but I'd definitely say that Training your Dragon was the best (IMHO). Tangled & Quest for Camelot had too much singing and the plot moved too slowly for me. I like the sarcasm of Training your Dragon also. Lots of dry humor there. :-)

I miss movie nights... I miss my weekly poker games... I miss being able to have an hour to myself to do my nails... ~sigh~ Soon enough. In the meantime, my kids are adorable.
